I am finally able to take a break from essays. My mad weeks with multiple deadlines are finally over. I am pretty much looking forward to this week, where i've only to attend school for only 2 days, which is on Monday (8-12) and Friday (8-10). What's left is only my Japanese Studies GROUP project, German final semester test this coming Friday and of course, THE SEM EXAM! With those aside, I will enjoy this week.

One of the greatest joys of teaching is when students remember you for the things that you have done and most importantly, are appreciative of it. Even though I taught in the school for only half a year, but I trust I have indeed touched lives. My ex-pupils recently got back their final year exam grades. What suprised me over the weekend was to receive a couple of SMS-es from them telling me the breakdown of their grades for individual sections of the papers, of which, some of them who were previously from the NT stream were promoted to the NA stream. In their SMS-es, they thanked me for helping them find the interest in learning English and as a result were able to do well enough to get promoted to NA. Memories of how i've been spending the first six months of the year came back. While these jokers were there to make me angry (most of the time, in fact), but these are the little things to show that they value all that i've done.

Yesterday while waiting for the youth fellowship to start after lunch, 3 of us (all girls) were making plans for our 3 mths holiday next year, after sem 2. We decided to go either to Hong Kong or Taiwan. As we were talking, we were so excited and were making so much noise that everyone else in church started staring at us. 3 girls but it sounded like a mega fish market. One of the girls was the one who went with me to Bangkok earlier this year, while the other is Bao Yue (coz she's my church member too =o).

I love the two of them because they are super 'on', never making empty promises. Therefore, the trip is pretty much confirmed. As I was working on my laptop in school this morning, Bao Yue had even come back to me regarding the ticket prices. Happening!!

So looking forward to it! (yes, i know, my sem 1 has not even ended yet, but nevertheless...)

1 Corinthians 13

4 Love is paitent, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
5 It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails.

Luke 18

16 Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.
17 I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.

These were the 2 specific passages of scripture that spoke to me during my quiet time this morning.

I had a very eventful week last week, after a week of pure slogging. In fact I was slogging too, having only less than 6 hours of sleep during the weekend (which is a BIG deal to me!) -- slogging with loads of fun.

Last Friday, I went shopping with a friend straight after school till dinner time. We started from Raffles Place, to China Square then to Chinatown. Along Chinatown, the both of us felt so much like tourists, especially when the both of us have not stepped into Chinatown for eons. When we were there, we saw a Hinduism possession outside the Hindu temple. Since it was so fascinating, we stood along the roadside to watch it for about half and hour. If you think Raffles Place is only a business district, you're wrong, it is very much a shopping haven as well!

On Saturday, my family went for a make-over shoot. My mum worn a lucky draw so the make-over was free. The make-over took more than half the day. While we were evaluating the photos, the boss came and offered me a job at their place as their image consultant. When I told him I was still schooling, he told me he was willing to accept me as a part-timer. Apparently the pay is very attractive even as a part-timer. I'll seriously consider that as part of my holiday plans. After that was off to tuition then headed to Plaza hotel to celebrate my grandma's birthday.

Yesterday, taught in Sunday school again, my last lesson for this year. In a blink of an eye, there goes 4 weeks of teaching -- a month. We also had our youth service yesterday after church. It has been a long time since we had actually brought food back to church to eat around a tiny table with not-so-tiny-people. Then we had about 2 hours of games, playing only 2 games. One of which was the edited version of the childhood game, 'scissors, paper, stone.' Through this game, I realised that Amelia, one of my church members and I were ultimate losers. We never won in that game before. It was indeed a stress relieving Sunday. We haven't done all those things in a long time already.

AnywayZ, Monday today, back to my routine. This routine will stick with me for the next 1 month till my holidays. How I look forward to it.

It's finally the end of the week. As I look back, i'm amazed at how God gave me strength to go through that entire mad week. He helped me deal with things one at a time. He alone IS indeed my strength, and His strength is INDEED sufficient for me. Men may fail, God never does. Great way to end the week last night, where our usual group had tao hwei at Selegie, then to MindCafe for intellectual board games. I like 'I'm the boss' best. 15-5, Carine??

To you guys who are feeling so down (Rine and Lynns), your pains are all unique. Only you know best. No one can fully comprehen the things you're going through. The best way I know how to show my concern for you is to keep you guys in my prayers for all the pains to away. God bless.

Yesterday was my first time teaching the 3-5 years old Sunday School class. I was teaching the upper primary class previously. It really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. My greatest worry at first was that I wouldn't know how to talk at their level. In fact, I had so much fun being with them!

The first question they asked me when I started the class was "is there any colouring for us today?" They participated in everything that was planned for them wholeheartedly. When colouring came, they were so happy and that itself could keep them occupied for almost half and hour. The horses had multi-colours, we called it a rainbow horse. Grass to them was not green. Whatever colours they liked, that was the grass of their world. Towards the end of the lesson, there was supposed to be a closing prayer. This girl volunteered to do it. Of course I was more than willing to allow her to do it. Her prayer was so short and simple, yet it was something that was from her heart, praising Jesus with the little words she knew -- the best that she could give.

Not only did I leave that place teaching them something, but they have also taught me valuable life lessons. I want to be like them, where simple things in life, such as colouring is all that is needed to make me happy. I want to paint my world with my imagination, removing all the dark shades. I want to be that like that little girl, to praise Jesus with the best I can give.

I'm satisified with the small lessons in life.

You search much deeper within, through the way things appear, You're looking into my heart.
-- Heart of worship

A song that has been sung so many times, but this verse has never spoken to me so much like today. The world looks at the way things appear, but we can take into comfort that we need not strive to remain in a facade simply because God is not concerned about the outward appearance but looks into our hearts.

Celery munching BOYS
Yesterday was Children's Day so we were celebrating it today during Sunday School. There were games, lots of presents and some snacks prepared for the children. One of the snacks was mixed fruits with CELERIES. My friend and I thought that snack will definitely be the least popular, since there were celeries. I always thought celeries were disguisting, just like onions, where there is the after-taste that lingers. However, to our surprise, this snack was the most popular! There were a group of boys aged between 6-8 yrs old who went for several helpings of celeries! They are super healthy kids! To our amazement, the girls were the ones who shyed away from the celeries.

Regaining composure
I barely regained composure from just now's near accident, not due to my recklessness driving but all thanks to a sleeping driver. I was travelling along Bukit Timah where the whole stretch was traffic light free. So naturally all drivers were travelling rather fast. There were 3 lanes and I was in the middle lane. This merc was on the extreme left lane and he just came into my lane without any signals. I did a long horn at him and he braked. Naturally, following closely behind him, I had to react two times faster to avoid hitting him. After avoiding him, my mind went blank, legs were soft and heart was beating so fast. It was only after reaching home for some time before I regained my composure. I hate these drivers. (Those of you who think it was a lady driver again, I'm sorry! It's a MAN!)

Apparently I have quite a number of encounters with these one of a kind people on the road. Last Saturday when I tried to do a 3 point turn, this MALE driver behind me started staring at me and shaked his head. I was not slow! Bullying just because I have the triangular plate. Thanks a lot. Because of that, I purposely took my own sweet time to 'get back'.

On a lighter note, Family Night went on very well in church last night with everyone enjoying themselves in the games. Another event is down from my to-do-list. October will be a mad month, with at least 1 assignment due every week. I will nevertheless cling onto Your strength.
