Tear down the curtains. I want to face the world being ME. Stop your judgements, World.

I am tired. Really tired but my mind refuses to grant me rest. I can't help but think, even if I want it to stop.

This year's pre-new year events were pretty happening. Last night, being the eve of new year's eve, my mum, brother and I went to the markets around my place to do some last minute shopping, since the shops were opened throughout the night. After all the walking, we were hungry, so settled at Crystal Jade for a bowl of congee. By the time we reached home was almost 2am.

Had reunion dinner with my paternal extended family in the Chinese restaurant at the Singapore Recreation Club. Since we ended dinner early, we went to the River Hongbao, which is just next to the club. The festive mood was really present, especially when there were so many performances and people there. I know I am a Singaporean, but seriously, it is the first time in my life going to midnight markets and the River Hongbao. I left after a while anywayz. (Too warm!)

After shower, I got into my new pyjamas. I have 4 new sets this year, so I was kinda spoilt for choices... I have to confess how BLESSED I really am. For the past 20 years of my life, my grandma has been making me new sets of pyjamas for me every year WITHOUT FAIL. I can never sleep without those HAND-MADE pyjamas...

I have got pretty nails now, with pedicure and manicure, the DIY way... I guess I am more experienced now with all those practices.

On a lighter note, I do pretty much enjoy doing the soci readings in my course-pack, especially the one on "The Dos and Taboos of Body Language around the World." Came across this joke between the Chinese and American that goes like this --

Take this scene in a Chinese cemetery. Watching a Chinese reverently placing fresh fruit on a grave, an American visitor asked, 'When do you expect your ancestors to get up and eat the fruit?' The Chinese replied, 'As soon as your ancestors get up and smell the flowers.'

I hope YOU got the joke.

Tutorials spoilt all my plans!!

Why can't all the other modules learn from the Soci of Tourism module, where they start their tutorials only after CNY? I am already in the festive mood and my original plan was to do as little work as possible, just enough to float through this week. BUT the thing is, I've got 2 tutorials this week and these are the super heavy modules. I need to do tonnes of readings from the course-pack, lecture notes and textbooks to do the tutorials.

I am staring blankly at them now.

Going traditional this New Year
Went out with my mum the entire day last Saturday to get New Year stuff. One of the last few shops we went to was the CheongSam shop located at Holland Village. She was there to collect her Samfu that has been altered and ready for collection. As she was collecting and trying it, since I was bored, I started browsing at their collection and tried a couple of them 'just out of fun', since I have never tried on such traditional clothes before.

Normally, such clothes will ALWAYS require alteration. However, what was meant for 'fun' turned out likewise. After putting it on, I realised it fitted me perfectly. Subsequently, being vain, I tried on more. After persuasions from the shopkeeper (which they always do) and the approving nod from my mum (signifying I looked good in them), I ended up buying 2 Samfus costing a bomb.

Nevertheless, no regrets because I loveee my traditional look, the look which makes me more CHINESE. Furthermore, what beats looking traditional on this occasion?

Oh well, after I have just posted that entry, the company sent me an sms informing me the cake has been delivered. I just heaved a sigh of relief...

I cannot believe that I am so muddleheaded. I woke up this morning feeling stressed and most importantly, STUPID. Today is my dad's birthday. While I know it falls on the 16th, I kept thinking it was a Tuesday rather than today. Last week I had already decided to get him a cake to be delieved to his office. The reason why I decided to do that was because he already has everything. What he needs is just a big suprise and for the whole office to know about it.

However, I was too busy to go down to the cake shop last weekend because I was so tied up with other things. I happily thought I still could do it on Monday, since I had no school. It was only this morning, after waking up at 9 plus that I realised that today is the 16th. I went online immediately and clicked onto the Internet Yellow Pages. By God's grace, I found this company that will help to purchase my cake from my preferred cake shop and promises delivery within 3 hours. I quickly did my purchase with my card.

Even though I had to spend another extra $12 for delivery charges, (Prima Deli does free delivery if purchase is done 3 days in advance) at least I know it is settled. But of course, it is only when my dad calls that I know it is really settled. I don't quite like the idea of shopping online. I don't know what they will do with my card number and purchase... He should be calling me within the next hour...

The week in retrospect.
It has been a week since I have last blogged. Have been so busy doing everything else, coupled with the gloomy, gloomy weather, I would rather spend my time under my covers in bed. Looking back, nothing really much has happened.

Last Saturday evening was spent in church for band practice then followed with dinner with family. Then came Sunday, went to the salon for a haircut in preparation for CNY. Had to do it by last week because they were raising the prices from this week onwards. Did a light Japanese perm (or so they call it) to give my hair more body and it supposedly will help neaten my hair due to my natural curls.

Back to do another day of relief teaching on Monday. It was more of to be there so that I can teach the new relief teacher what to do, since she is new at it. The rest of my day was spent reading magazines. That was what they paid me for in fact for the past week of teaching. Of course such easy money was more than welcomed! Tuesday was public holiday, went for tuition in the morning then to visit a friend's church. (I will not elaborate further coz I am not pleased about the whole experience at all)

School started for me on Wednesday. Had 4 hours of lectures back to back. Lynnette and I were dozing off at regular intervals. It must be the cause of allowing the brain to rest for too long. The bidding is so frustrating because we have to plan and replan our timetable to fit things in. We are still in the process of it.

Have been sleeping in almost everyday due to the "excellent weather." Because I live so high up, even if the windows were closed, I still need my comforter over me. Today is the earliest I have woke up in the week. I like it, at least I wouldn't be feeling lazy. I finally see the sun today. I like the warm sun rays making its appearance amidst the mist on the horizon. It brings a new beginning -- life.

Met the girls last night. We had dinner at Subway, then headed to New Asia Bar, then to ChinaBlack and finally Zouk. I left Zouk at about 1.15am while the girls continued partying. By the time I got home, showered etc, I slept at about 2plus. That is super late considering I had to wake up the next day at 5.45am to prepare to go school and teach.

Because I was so tired, I went school without any make-up, hair tied up and with my specs to try to hide my tired eyes. I am amazed at how I can teach for 8 periods and survive it. Of course, as soon as I am done with my bidding for modules in the next 10mins, I will go to my lala land.

I think Bao Yue will all the more shoot me after this entry.

I was given English and Lit to relief this time, all lower sec classes. However, after yesterday, my HOD came to me today to tell me that she wants to release me of 8 periods of English so that I can spend the time to go through the texts for the Lit classes. This was nonsense because I could cover 5 chapters of the book in 15 mins. But seriously, who cares! As long as I have lesser work to do and get the same pay, I am happy!

Actually from this third try of teaching, I am all the more convinced that teaching is not my cup of tea. I do not like the fact that stepping into class is an act everyday. A teacher has to go into class and intimidate the students especially in the first few lessons before they intimidate us. In the case of going into rotten classes, the female teachers will go in being bitchy to win the notorious students. Having not done that for almost half a year, I needed to get used to it again today. I am not the only one who was complaining about it. 2 other teachers just did so today too. It is tiring behaving with a totally split personality.

However, in every situation, there is always a BUT. Going to school once again today, seeing my ex-students create a big hoo-ha when I was walking along the coridoor and having them ask me to go back to teach them makes teaching just a little more satisfying.

Right, I am a confused person.

Reported to school today exactly just before school started, which was an accomplishment! I have not woken up so early for as long as I remember. It was therefore an accomplishment to even be there punctually without the help of the cabbie.

The timetable they gave me was superb. In fact, I am spending more time babysitting then to actually teach. That means the money will come in very easily for this week!

I was just up from my nap. I needed it from my lack of sleep these days, coupled with an early early morning today. I also need to recharge for New Asia Bar. I hope in the midst of all these, I will not forget to bid for my modules!

My first blog entry in 2006. Have been so busy the past couple of days.

Last Friday I was out with the girls from the church Youth for lunch and to talk about Youth Fellowship for 2006.

Saturday was having a Watchnight service in church to ursher in the new year. Left church at about 1 plus then headed to Holland Village for drinks with some girls after that. By the time I got home was about 3am. Slept at almost 4am.

Church service on Sunday was at 5pm. Dressed up because I was going for drinks after that, so though I had shimmery clothing, I needed to put on my denmin jacket to 'blend' in. Of course the jacket was off after the service! Headed down to Brewerkz then to acid bar. By the time I reached home, it was again 3 plus, slept again at almost 4am. I having hangovers from 2 consecutive nights of partying. I have been having too much drinks during this festive season. Will be going to New Asia Bar for more drinks AGAIN with another group of girls on Wednesday. I know I am asking for my own death for leading such a life..

Since school starts only on the 2nd week of Jan, my seconday school HOD wants me back to do relief teaching for a week. I don't mind, especially when I need the cash after all the partying. However, with another partying on Wednesday, I think i'll be the most happening teacher, going to teach only after a few hours of break from drinks.
